Alice Cook Moody
September 23, 1918 - May 22, 2008
Savannah- Alice Cook Moody, 89, passed away May 22, 2008 after a very short illness.
She was born September 23, 1918 in Jefferson County, Kansas. She graduated from Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, MO in 1940, and married Dr. Kenneth H. Moody in 1941. In 1959, they moved to Libertyville, IL. She was employed by Condell Hospital in Libertyville. After she retired in 1975, she became active in many areas – a member of St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville, member of the Libertyville Women's Club, member of the Condell Auxiliary, member of PEO Sisterhood, volunteer at Condell Hospital, and a volunteer at Condell Hospice. She was a 50 year member of Sorosis Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Grayslake, IL. She was the past State President of the auxiliary to the Illinois Osteopathic Association, and a member of the Libertyville Historical Society. For over 40 years, the last two weeks in July found her working in the office of the Lake County Fair in Grayslake, IL.
Due to her husband's poor health, they moved to Savannah, GA in July, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, a daughter, Sara Ann, and her husband, Kenneth.
Survivors include a son, C. Alan Moody Joan of Libertyville, a daughter, Jane Jackson Terry of Savannah, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 West Macon Street, Savannah, GA on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 1 PM.
Funeral and burial to follow in Libertyville, IL at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the St. Lawrence Episcopal Church Building Fund, 125 Church Street, Libertyville, IL 60048; 847.362.2110.
